About

Yet another blog…

Not that the world was waiting for another blog… but there you go. This (work in progress?) blog is a collection of my “thoughts in R” with varying degrees of seriousness. Posts are partly a playground to test-drive some new ideas/packages, and partly more elaborated with a substantive angle. Not claiming any final truth. One step at a time.

I have been working in R for more than 15 years, with projects as diverse as statistical analysis, data and text mining, and geo-computing. Before pivoting more into the “data world”, I worked as a human rights researcher - among others, with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture, where I participated in several fact-finding missions and contributed to the Oxford Commentary on the Convention against Torture.

I obtained a PhD in Comparative Political Science from the Central European University (then still in Budapest); MA-level degrees in Economics, International Business, and Political Science from the University of Innsbruck; and an MA in Human Rights and Democratisation with a focus on South East Europe (Uni Sarajevo/Bologna). Currently, I am working in a software company developing tools for pharmaceutical researchers.

When not in front of the screen, I prefer to spend my time with my partner and kids in the garden, planting vegetables or simply enjoying the beauty of nature.

If you have any questions, feedback, or suggestions, or if you think my work as showcased on this page could be helpful to you, feel free to contact me via direct message on Bluesky. I am available for freelance projects.
